WIRELESS POWER TRANSMITTING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR WIRELESSLY TRANSMITTING POWER BY WIRELESS POWER TRANSMITTING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18456176 titled 'WIRELESS POWER TRANSMITTING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR WIRELESSLY TRANSMITTING POWER BY WIRELESS POWER TRANSMITTING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The disclosed invention is a wireless power transmitting apparatus and method for wirelessly transmitting power. It includes a power amplifier, a coil, an impedance sensing circuit, at least one auxiliary coil, and a controller.

  • The power amplifier provides power to the apparatus.
  • The coil generates an electromagnetic field based on the power received from the power amplifier.
  • The impedance sensing circuit is connected between the power amplifier and the coil to sense changes in impedance.
  • The at least one auxiliary coil is electromagnetically coupled to the main coil.
  • The controller identifies changes in impedance sensed by the impedance sensing circuit.
  • The controller adjusts the operation setting of the auxiliary coil based on the identified change in impedance.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless charging of electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and wearables.
  • Powering IoT devices without the need for physical connections.
  • Charging electric vehicles wirelessly.
  • Powering medical implants without the need for invasive procedures.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Eliminates the need for physical connections and cables for charging devices.
  • Provides a more convenient and flexible way of charging devices.
  • Enables charging of multiple devices simultaneously.
  • Reduces the risk of damage to charging ports and cables.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Simplifies the charging process by eliminating the need for cables and connectors.
  • Provides a safer charging method by reducing the risk of electrical shocks.
  • Enables faster and more efficient charging of devices.
  • Increases the lifespan of charging ports and cables by reducing wear and tear.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure provides a wireless power transmitting apparatus and a method for wirelessly transmitting power by the wireless power transmitting apparatus. The wireless power transmitting apparatus according to an example embodiment comprises: a power amplifier; a coil connected to the power amplifier and configured to generate an electromagnetic field based on power received from the power amplifier; an impedance sensing circuit connected between the power amplifier and the coil; at least one auxiliary coil electromagnetically coupled to the coil; and a controller, wherein the controller may be configured to: identify a change in impedance, from a signal sensed through the impedance sensing circuit, and adjust an operation setting of the at least one auxiliary coil based on the identified change in impedance.
