OPTO-ELECTRONIC ADAPTER AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18455892 titled 'OPTO-ELECTRONIC ADAPTER AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an optical connector that is designed to connect to a peer adapter. The connector has two ends - one for optical connection and one for electrical connection. The optical connection end can slide along the plugging direction of the peer adapter relative to the electrical connection end. The optical connector is connected to the peer adapter before the electrical connector, ensuring that the optical signal transmission channel is established before the electrical signal transmission channel.

  • The optical connector has two ends - one for optical connection and one for electrical connection.
  • The optical connection end can slide along the plugging direction of the peer adapter relative to the electrical connection end.
  • The optical connector is connected to the peer adapter before the electrical connector.
  • This sequence of connection ensures that the optical signal transmission channel is established before the electrical signal transmission channel.
  • This helps to avoid fiber burning and improves the security and reliability of the opto-electronic adapter during use.

Potential Applications

  • Telecommunications industry
  • Data centers
  • Fiber optic networks

Problems Solved

  • Avoids fiber burning
  • Improves security and reliability of opto-electronic adapter

Benefits

  • Ensures proper sequence of connection for optical and electrical signals
  • Enhances safety and reliability of the system
  • Reduces the risk of damage to optical fibers

Original Abstract Submitted

An optical connector has a first connection end configured to fit with a peer adapter. The electrical connector has a second connection end configured to fit with the peer adapter. The first connection end and the second connection end have a same opening direction. In addition, the first connection end may slide along a plugging direction of the peer adapter relative to the second connection end. The first connection end is configured to be connected to the peer adapter before the second connection end. The optical connector is connected to the peer adapter before the electrical connector. This ensures that a channel for transmitting an optical signal is communicated before a channel for transmitting an electrical signal is communicated, thereby avoiding fiber burning and improving security and reliability of the opto-electronic adapter during use.
