ELECTRONIC APPARATUS, SERVER APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18449993 titled 'ELECTRONIC APPARATUS, SERVER APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The electronic apparatus described in the patent application allows for the display of content streamed from an external server, with the ability to adjust decoding speed and display output speed based on the critical value of the stream buffer and the state of the stream buffer.

  • The electronic apparatus includes a communication interface, a display, a memory, and one or more processors.
  • The processors control the display to show content streamed from an external server, based on delay characteristic information received from the server.
  • The critical value of the stream buffer, where the streamed content is stored, is identified using the delay characteristic information.
  • The decoding speed of the content and the output speed of the display are adjusted based on the critical value of the stream buffer and the state of the stream buffer.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in streaming services, video conferencing applications, and online gaming platforms.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of buffering delays and lag in streaming content, ensuring a smoother viewing experience for users.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved streaming quality, reduced buffering times, and enhanced user experience.

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications of this technology include smart TVs, streaming devices, and video conferencing systems.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be adaptive streaming technologies used in video streaming services to adjust video quality based on network conditions.

Unanswered Questions

How does the electronic apparatus determine the optimal decoding speed and display output speed based on the critical value of the stream buffer?

The patent application does not provide detailed information on the specific algorithms or methods used to determine the optimal decoding speed and display output speed.

What types of delay characteristic information are considered by the electronic apparatus when adjusting the decoding speed and display output speed?

The patent application does not specify the exact parameters or metrics used to analyze delay characteristic information for adjusting the decoding speed and display output speed.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed is an electronic apparatus. The electronic apparatus includes: a communication interface comprising communication circuitry, a display, a memory configured to store at least one instruction, and one or more processors connected to the communication interface, the display, and the memory and configured to control the electronic apparatus, wherein the one or more processors, by executing the at least one instruction, may be configured to: control the display to display content streamed from an external server through the communication interface, based on receiving delay characteristic information corresponding to the streamed content from the external server, identify a critical value of a stream buffer in which the streamed content is stored based on the delay characteristic information, and control at least one of a decoding speed of the content or output speed of the display based on the critical value of the stream buffer and a state of the stream buffer.
