TRAVEL PLAN FORMULATION APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18381707 titled 'TRAVEL PLAN FORMULATION APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The travel plan formulation apparatus described in the abstract is a device that helps create travel plans for vehicles while taking into account road information, specifically regarding intrusion restricted roads where people are not allowed to enter the roadway. The apparatus can determine if a travel route in the plan includes an intrusion restricted road and modify the route to avoid such roads.

  • Controller acquires travel plan and road information
  • Determines if travel route includes intrusion restricted road
  • Modifies route to avoid intrusion restricted road

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in:

  • GPS navigation systems
  • Fleet management systems
  • Traffic management systems

Problems Solved

This technology helps solve:

  • Ensuring compliance with road restrictions
  • Improving safety by avoiding restricted roads

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Efficient travel planning
  • Enhanced road safety
  • Compliance with regulations

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications include:

  • Automotive industry
  • Transportation companies
  • Government agencies

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be the use of GPS navigation systems that provide alternative routes based on real-time traffic conditions. However, the specific focus on avoiding intrusion restricted roads may be a unique aspect of this technology.

Unanswered Questions

How does the apparatus determine the best alternative route to avoid intrusion restricted roads?

The abstract does not provide details on the specific algorithm or method used by the apparatus to modify the travel route. Further information on this aspect would be helpful.

Are there any limitations to the types of intrusion restricted roads that the apparatus can detect and avoid?

It is not clear from the abstract whether the apparatus can handle different types of intrusion restricted roads, such as those with varying levels of restrictions. More information on the capabilities of the apparatus in this regard would be beneficial.

Original Abstract Submitted

A travel plan formulation apparatus according to the present disclosure is a travel plan formulation apparatus including a controller configured to acquire a travel plan for a vehicle and road information regarding an intrusion restricted road on which the intrusion of people into a roadway is restricted, determine, based on the road information, whether a travel route included in the travel plan includes a road other than the intrusion restricted road, and upon detecting that the travel route includes the road other than the intrusion restricted road, modify the travel route so as to avoid the road other than the intrusion restricted road.
