DISPLAY DRIVING INTEGRATED CIRCUIT CONFIGURED TO PERFORM ADAPTIVE FRAME OPERATION AND OPERATION METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18380419 titled 'DISPLAY DRIVING INTEGRATED CIRCUIT CONFIGURED TO PERFORM ADAPTIVE FRAME OPERATION AND OPERATION METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a display driving integrated circuit that performs an adaptive frame operation. The method includes outputting current frame data to an external display panel, receiving next frame data from an external device after a certain time point, and generating a vertical synchronization signal at a specific time point synchronized with an emission control signal.

  • The display driving integrated circuit outputs current frame data to an external display panel.
  • After a certain time point, it starts receiving next frame data from an external device.
  • The time point is determined by the elapse of a first time period, which immediately follows the complete output of current frame data.
  • At a third time point synchronized with the cycle of an emission control signal, the circuit generates a vertical synchronization signal in response to receiving the next frame data.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display devices such as televisions, monitors, and digital signage.
  • Virtual reality and augmented reality headsets.
  • Automotive displays and infotainment systems.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Ensures smooth and synchronized frame transitions in display devices.
  • Reduces visual artifacts such as tearing and stuttering.
  • Improves the overall visual experience for users.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Provides a seamless and visually pleasing display experience.
  • Enhances the performance and efficiency of display devices.
  • Enables better synchronization between the display panel and external devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display driving integrated circuit performs an adaptive frame operation. An operation method of the display driving integrated circuit includes outputting current frame data to an external display panel, starting to receive next frame data from an external device after a first time point, the first time point being a time point when a first time period elapses, the first time period immediately following a second time point at which the current frame data are completely output, and generating a vertical synchronization signal at a third time point synchronized with a cycle of an emission control signal, in response to starting to receive the next frame data.
