SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LBA-BASED RAID - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18380136 titled 'SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LBA-BASED RAID
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a system and method for an LBA RAID storage device. The device consists of multiple data channels and storage components, with each storage component connected to a data channel. A storage controller receives data and writes it to a RAID group composed of at least two storage components connected to separate data channels.
- The patent describes a storage device that uses RAID technology to improve data storage and retrieval.
- The device has multiple data channels and storage components, allowing for parallel data transfer and redundancy.
- A storage controller manages the data flow and writes it to a RAID group, ensuring data integrity and fault tolerance.
- The use of separate data channels for each storage component improves performance and allows for simultaneous data access.
- The invention provides a scalable and efficient solution for storing and accessing large amounts of data.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Data centers and server farms can benefit from the improved performance and reliability of the LBA RAID storage device.
- High-performance computing systems that require fast and reliable data storage can utilize this technology.
- Video streaming and media production industries can benefit from the high-speed data transfer and fault tolerance provided by the device.
- Cloud storage providers can offer more reliable and efficient storage solutions to their customers.
Problems solved by this technology:
- The LBA RAID storage device solves the problem of data loss and downtime by providing redundancy and fault tolerance.
- It addresses the issue of slow data transfer rates by utilizing multiple data channels and parallel data access.
- The device solves the problem of limited storage capacity by allowing for the use of multiple storage components in a RAID configuration.
Benefits of this technology:
- Improved data reliability and fault tolerance due to the use of RAID technology.
- Faster data transfer rates and improved performance through parallel data access.
- Scalable storage capacity by adding more storage components to the RAID group.
- Enhanced data security and protection against data loss.
- Efficient utilization of storage resources and improved overall system performance.
Original Abstract Submitted
A system and method for an LBA RAID storage device. The LBA RAID storage device includes a plurality of data channels and a plurality of storage components. Each of the storage components is connected to one of the plurality of data channels. A storage controller is configured to receive a data and write the data to a RAID group made up of at least two storage components of the plurality of storage components that are each connected to a separate data channel.
