MEMORY DEVICE SENSORS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18379440 titled 'MEMORY DEVICE SENSORS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes systems, apparatuses, and methods for using memory device sensors. These memory devices have sensors embedded in their circuitry. The memory device can transmit data generated by the embedded sensor using a sensor output coupled to the device. Additionally, the memory device can generate a signal from the embedded sensor based on a characteristic of the memory device and transmit it to another device coupled to the memory device.

  • Memory devices have sensors embedded in their circuitry
  • Data generated by the embedded sensor can be transmitted using a sensor output
  • Signals generated by the sensor can be transmitted to another device coupled to the memory device

Potential Applications:

  • Monitoring and controlling temperature in electronic devices
  • Detecting and reporting physical stress or damage in memory devices
  • Tracking and analyzing usage patterns of memory devices

Problems Solved:

  • Lack of real-time monitoring and control of temperature in memory devices
  • Inability to detect and report physical stress or damage in memory devices
  • Limited understanding of usage patterns and behavior of memory devices

Benefits:

  • Improved reliability and performance of memory devices
  • Enhanced safety and protection against damage or failure
  • Optimized usage and allocation of memory resources

Original Abstract Submitted

Systems, apparatuses, and methods related to using memory device sensors are described. Some memory system or device types include sensors embedded in their circuitry. For instance, a device can be coupled to a memory device with an embedded sensor. The memory device can transmit the data generated by the embedded sensor using a sensor output coupled to the device. The memory device may generate, based at least in part on a characteristic of a memory device, a signal from a sensor embedded in the memory device and transmit the signal generated by the sensor from the memory device to another device coupled to the memory device.
