METHOD OF UPDATING FIRMWARE OF VACUUM CLEANER, AND VACUUM CLEANER AND COMPUTING APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18376948 titled 'METHOD OF UPDATING FIRMWARE OF VACUUM CLEANER, AND VACUUM CLEANER AND COMPUTING APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE METHOD
Simplified Explanation
The method described in the patent application involves updating the firmware of a vacuum cleaner by checking for update conditions, transmitting the result to a station, receiving and installing the new firmware version when conditions are met.
- The method involves receiving a firmware update condition check request from the station.
- The cleaner body checks if firmware update conditions are satisfied.
- The result of the check is transmitted to the station.
- If conditions are met and the user agrees, the new firmware version is received and installed.
- Firmware update conditions include communication, location, and battery conditions of the cleaner body.
Potential Applications
The technology described in this patent application could be applied to various smart home devices that require firmware updates, such as robotic vacuum cleaners, smart thermostats, and security cameras.
Problems Solved
This technology solves the problem of ensuring that firmware updates are only installed when certain conditions are met, such as having a stable communication connection, being in a specific location, or having sufficient battery power.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include preventing firmware updates from being installed in unfavorable conditions, reducing the risk of errors or interruptions during the update process, and improving the overall user experience with the device.
Potential Commercial Applications
A potential commercial application of this technology could be in the development of smart home devices with automated firmware update processes that prioritize user convenience and device safety.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art for this technology could be similar methods used in other electronic devices, such as smartphones or computers, to ensure that firmware updates are only installed under specific conditions.
Unanswered Questions
How does this technology impact user privacy and data security?
This article does not address how user data is handled during the firmware update process and whether any sensitive information is at risk.
Are there any potential compatibility issues with different versions of the firmware?
The article does not mention how the technology handles compatibility between different versions of the firmware and whether any issues may arise during the update process.
Original Abstract Submitted
Provided is a method of updating a firmware of a vacuum cleaner including a station and a cleaner body. The method includes receiving, by the cleaner body, a firmware update condition check request from the station when a new version of the firmware exists, checking, by the cleaner body, whether firmware update conditions have been satisfied, transmitting, by the cleaner body, a result of the checking to the station, and when the firmware update conditions are satisfied and a user agrees to update the firmware, receiving, by the cleaner body, the new version of the firmware, and installing, by the cleaner body, the received new version of the firmware. The firmware update conditions include at least one of a communication condition, a location condition, or a battery condition of the cleaner body.
