INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS CONTROLLING PRINTER, CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR, AND STORAGE MEDIUM STORING CONTROL PROGRAM THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18376047 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS CONTROLLING PRINTER, CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR, AND STORAGE MEDIUM STORING CONTROL PROGRAM THEREFOR

Simplified Explanation

The present invention relates to an information processing apparatus that can switch the discharge manner of a one-page print job in a printer in a two-sided print setting.

  • The information processing apparatus controls a printer capable of printing on a sheet-shaped recording medium.
  • The setting unit sets a print setting for a first print process as either a two-sided print setting or a one-sided print setting.
  • The controller determines whether to discharge a recording medium printed by the first print process in a face-up manner or a face-down manner based on the print settings and the type of print process.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in office settings where there is a need for efficient printing of documents, especially when printing multiple pages in a two-sided format.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of having to manually adjust the printer settings for different print jobs, especially when switching between one-sided and two-sided printing.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include increased efficiency in printing processes, reduced manual intervention, and improved overall productivity in printing tasks.

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications of this technology include office printers, commercial printing services, and any other industry that requires efficient printing solutions.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be printers with manual settings for two-sided printing, where the user has to manually adjust the settings for each print job.

What are the specific features of the information processing apparatus described in the patent application?

The specific features of the information processing apparatus include a setting unit that can set print settings for a first print process, a controller that determines the discharge manner of the printed recording medium based on the print settings, and the type of print process being executed.

How does this technology improve printing efficiency in comparison to traditional printing methods?

This technology improves printing efficiency by automating the process of switching between one-sided and two-sided printing settings, reducing the need for manual intervention and streamlining the printing process for different types of print jobs.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present invention provides an information processing apparatus capable of switching a discharge manner of a one-page print job in a printer in a two-sided print setting. An information processing apparatus controls a printer capable of printing on a sheet-shaped recording medium. The apparatus includes a setting unit that sets, as a print setting for a first print process, a two-sided print setting or a one-sided print setting, and a controller that controls whether to execute control for discharging a recording medium printed by the first print process in a face-up manner or a face-down manner based on at least one of whether the two-sided print setting is set for a second print process executed before the first print process and whether the second print process is for printing pages, when the two-sided print setting is set for the first print process that prints one page.
