ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR PLMN SELECTION AND OPERATION METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18375499 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR PLMN SELECTION AND OPERATION METHOD THEREOF
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a patent application for an electronic device that can identify the country where it is located, generate a list of available networks in that country, search for networks based on that list, and register with a detected network.
- Subscriber identification module
- Wireless communication circuit
- Processor
- Identifies country location
- Generates PLMN list for country
- Performs network search based on PLMN list
- Registers with detected network
Potential Applications
This technology could be used in mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices to automatically connect to local networks when traveling internationally.
Problems Solved
This technology solves the problem of manually selecting and registering with networks when traveling to different countries, making the process more seamless and convenient for users.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include improved user experience, reduced roaming charges, and increased efficiency in network selection and registration processes.
Potential Commercial Applications
Potential commercial applications of this technology include mobile device manufacturing, telecommunications companies, and travel industry companies looking to enhance the connectivity experience for their customers.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art for this technology could be similar patents related to network selection and registration processes in electronic devices.
Unanswered Questions
How does the device determine the country where it is located?
The abstract does not specify the method or technology used to identify the country where the electronic device is located. This could be based on GPS location, network information, or other means.
What happens if the detected network is not available for registration?
The abstract does not mention what the device does if the detected network is not available for registration. It would be important to know how the device handles such situations to ensure a seamless user experience.
Original Abstract Submitted
An electronic device may include a subscriber identification module, a wireless communication circuit, and a processor, wherein the processor identifies information on a country where the electronic device is located, when the country where the electronic device is located is changed on the basis of the country where the electronic device is located, generates a PLMN list corresponding to the country where the electronic device is located, performs network search based on the PLMN list via the wireless communication circuit and when a cell of a PLMN included in the PLMN list is detected through the network search, performs registration in the detected cell via the wireless communication circuit.
