AREA MONITORING SYSTEM AND AREA MONITORING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18372715 titled 'AREA MONITORING SYSTEM AND AREA MONITORING METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an area monitoring system that uses a combination of sensor devices to detect and track mobile objects in a monitoring target area. The system includes a determiner that analyzes the detection results from the sensor devices to determine if the detected mobile objects are the same physical object.

  • The system includes a plurality of sensor devices, such as a radio wave sensor and an optical sensor, to detect mobile objects in the monitoring target area.
  • The determiner uses information on feature quantities of the mobile objects' movements and reflection intensities corresponding to their attributes to determine if the objects detected by the sensor devices are the same physical object.

Potential Applications

The technology could be applied in security systems, automated surveillance systems, and smart home devices for tracking and monitoring movements of objects within a specific area.

Problems Solved

The system helps in accurately tracking and identifying mobile objects within a monitoring target area, reducing false alarms and improving overall security and surveillance measures.

Benefits

- Enhanced security and surveillance capabilities - Improved accuracy in tracking and identifying objects - Potential for integration with existing monitoring systems for enhanced functionality

Potential Commercial Applications

"Enhanced Object Tracking System for Security and Surveillance Applications"

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be traditional surveillance systems that rely on single sensor devices for object detection and tracking, which may not provide as accurate or comprehensive results as the system described in the patent application.

Unanswered Questions

How does the system handle occlusions or overlapping movements of multiple objects within the monitoring target area?

The patent application does not specifically address how the system deals with occlusions or overlapping movements of multiple objects, which could potentially impact the accuracy of object tracking and identification.

What is the range and coverage area of the sensor devices used in the system?

The patent application does not provide details on the range and coverage area of the sensor devices, which could affect the effectiveness of the system in different monitoring scenarios.

Original Abstract Submitted

Area monitoring system includes a plurality of sensor devices each installed in a monitoring target area and configured to detect a mobile object moving in the monitoring target area and a determiner configured to determine whether or not mobile objects detected by the plurality of sensor devices are the same physical object on the basis of detection results of the plurality of sensor devices. The plurality of sensor devices include at least a radio wave sensor and an optical sensor. The determiner determines whether or not mobile objects detected by the radio wave sensor and the optical sensor are the same physical object on the basis of information of at least one of feature quantities regarding movements of the mobile objects and reflection intensities corresponding to attributes of the mobile objects when the mobile objects have been detected by the radio wave sensor and the optical sensor.
