VEHICLE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18371483 titled 'VEHICLE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The vehicle information management device described in the abstract is designed to assist users in determining whether a planned vehicle boarding position is suitable for vehicle ramp deployment based on road surface information. If the device determines that the road surface height is not appropriate for ramp deployment, it will suggest a change of boarding position to the user.

  • Processor configured to acquire road surface information before a vehicle arrives at a planned boarding area
  • Determine if road surface height at planned boarding position allows for ramp deployment
  • Propose change of boarding position if ramp deployment is not feasible

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various industries such as transportation services, logistics companies, and public transportation systems to improve efficiency and safety during vehicle boarding processes.

Problems Solved

1. Ensures that vehicle ramps can be safely deployed at boarding areas 2. Helps prevent accidents or damage to vehicles due to inappropriate boarding positions

Benefits

1. Enhances user experience by providing accurate information on boarding positions 2. Increases efficiency by avoiding delays caused by unsuitable boarding positions

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing vehicle boarding processes in transportation services Enhancing safety measures in logistics companies Improving accessibility in public transportation systems

Possible Prior Art

There may be existing systems or devices that assist in vehicle boarding processes, but the specific functionality of determining road surface height for ramp deployment suitability may be a novel aspect of this technology.

Unanswered Questions

How does the device communicate with the user to suggest a change of boarding position?

The abstract does not specify the method of communication between the device and the user, whether it is through a mobile app, notifications, or other means.

What types of road surface information are considered in the determination process?

The abstract mentions acquiring road surface information, but it does not detail the specific factors or parameters that are taken into account when determining the suitability of a boarding position for ramp deployment.

Original Abstract Submitted

A vehicle information management device includes: a processor, wherein the processor is configured to: before a vehicle arrives at a planned vehicle boarding area of a user, acquire road surface information of the planned vehicle boarding area; based on the road surface information, determine whether or not a road surface height of a planned vehicle boarding position, at which the user is waiting at the planned vehicle boarding area, is a height at which a ramp of the vehicle can be deployed; and in a case in which the road surface height is determined to not be a height at which the ramp can be deployed, propose a change of the planned vehicle boarding position to the user.
