METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RESOURCE SENSING AND SELECTION IN SIDELINK COMMUNICATION SUPPORTING DRX OPERATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18367271 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RESOURCE SENSING AND SELECTION IN SIDELINK COMMUNICATION SUPPORTING DRX OPERATION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method and device for resource sensing and selection in sidelink communication with a DRX (Discontinuous Reception) operation. The method involves performing a resource sensing operation considering the DRX cycle of a second terminal, followed by a resource selection operation within the on-duration period of the DRX cycle. Sidelink communication with the second terminal is then performed using the selected transmission resources.

  • The method and device enable efficient resource sensing and selection in sidelink communication.
  • It takes into account the DRX operation of the second terminal, allowing for optimized resource allocation.
  • The resource selection operation is performed within the on-duration period of the DRX cycle, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • The technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems that utilize sidelink communication and DRX operation.

Potential Applications

  • Cellular networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication
  • Industrial automation and control systems

Problems Solved

  • Efficient resource allocation in sidelink communication
  • Optimizing communication with devices using DRX operation
  • Timely and effective transmission resource selection

Benefits

  • Improved efficiency and reliability of sidelink communication
  • Enhanced utilization of transmission resources
  • Reduced power consumption in DRX operation
  • Better overall performance of wireless communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method and a device for resource sensing and selection in sidelink communication supporting a DRX operation are provided. A method for operation of a first terminal includes performing a resource sensing operation in consideration of a DRX cycle of a second terminal in which a DRX operation is performed. The method also includes performing a resource selection operation on the basis of the result of the resource sensing operation in an on-duration period within the DRX cycle. The method additionally includes performing sidelink communication with the second terminal by using transmission resources selected by means of the resource selection operation.
