METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RESOURCE SENSING AND SELECTION IN SIDELINK COMMUNICATION SUPPORTING DRX OPERATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18367271 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RESOURCE SENSING AND SELECTION IN SIDELINK COMMUNICATION SUPPORTING DRX OPERATION
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a method and device for resource sensing and selection in sidelink communication with a DRX (Discontinuous Reception) operation. The method involves performing a resource sensing operation considering the DRX cycle of a second terminal, followed by a resource selection operation within the on-duration period of the DRX cycle. Sidelink communication is then performed with the second terminal using the selected transmission resources.
- The method enables efficient resource sensing and selection in sidelink communication.
- It takes into account the DRX operation of the second terminal, which helps optimize resource allocation.
- The resource selection operation is performed within the on-duration period of the DRX cycle, ensuring timely communication.
- The technology can be implemented in devices supporting sidelink communication and DRX operation.
Potential Applications
- This technology can be applied in various wireless communication systems that utilize sidelink communication, such as cellular networks, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication.
- It can improve the efficiency and reliability of communication between devices in these systems, enabling better coordination and resource utilization.
Problems Solved
- Efficient resource sensing and selection in sidelink communication can be challenging, especially when considering the DRX operation of other terminals.
- The method described in the patent application solves this problem by incorporating the DRX cycle of the second terminal into the resource sensing and selection process.
- It ensures that the selected transmission resources are optimized and timely, enhancing the overall performance of the communication system.
Benefits
- Improved efficiency: By considering the DRX operation, the method optimizes resource allocation, leading to better utilization and reduced wastage.
- Enhanced reliability: The timely resource selection within the on-duration period ensures reliable communication between terminals.
- Compatibility: The technology can be implemented in existing devices supporting sidelink communication and DRX operation, making it compatible with current systems.
Original Abstract Submitted
A method and a device for resource sensing and selection in sidelink communication supporting a DRX operation are provided. A method for operation of a first terminal includes performing a resource sensing operation in consideration of a DRX cycle of a second terminal in which a DRX operation is performed. The method also includes performing a resource selection operation on the basis of the result of the resource sensing operation in an on-duration period within the DRX cycle. The method additionally includes performing sidelink communication with the second terminal by using transmission resources selected by means of the resource selection operation.
