DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANAGING CONGESTION AND BURST STATE IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18364033 titled 'DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANAGING CONGESTION AND BURST STATE IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The disclosed patent application is about a communication system that supports a higher data transmission rate in a 5G or 6G network. It introduces a method and device for managing congestion and burst states in the uplink data transmission.

  • The method involves identifying the start of a congestion state or a burst state based on insufficient resources for uplink data or an increase in uplink data.
  • Once the start of the congestion or burst state is identified, the method determines whether to perform a discard operation on a protocol data unit (PDU) of uplink data or a set of PDUs.
  • The discard operation is performed based on a priority configured according to the importance of the PDU or PDU set.
  • The method also includes stopping the discard operation when the congestion or burst state ends.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Improved data transmission: The innovation allows for a higher data transmission rate, enabling faster and more efficient communication in 5G or 6G networks.
  • Congestion management: The method helps manage congestion states in the network, ensuring smooth data flow and reducing delays.
  • Resource optimization: By identifying insufficient resources and performing discard operations, the system optimizes resource allocation and improves overall network performance.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Congestion control: The method addresses the issue of congestion in communication networks by identifying congestion states and taking appropriate actions to manage the flow of data.
  • Burst state management: The innovation also tackles the problem of burst states, which occur when there is a sudden increase in uplink data. By identifying and handling burst states, the system prevents data overload and ensures efficient data transmission.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Higher data transmission rate: The innovation supports a higher data transmission rate, allowing for faster and more reliable communication in 5G or 6G networks.
  • Improved network performance: By managing congestion and burst states, the system optimizes resource allocation and reduces delays, leading to improved overall network performance.
  • Enhanced user experience: The technology helps ensure smooth and uninterrupted data transmission, resulting in a better user experience for applications that rely on real-time data, such as video streaming or online gaming.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5Generation (5G) or 6Generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A device and a method are provided. The method includes identifying a start of a congestion state based on insufficiency in resources for uplink data or a burst state related to an increase of uplink data, identifying, based on the identification of the start of the congestion state or the burst state, whether to perform a discard operation with respect to a protocol data unit (PDU) of unlink data or a PDU set including at least one PDU, performing, based on the identification, the discard operation with respect to the PDU or the PDU set based on a priority configured based on importance of the PDU or the PDU set, and stopping the performance of the discard operation, based on an end of the congestion state or the burst state.
