RETURN TIME INDICATION ON NETWORK SWITCHING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18360537 titled 'RETURN TIME INDICATION ON NETWORK SWITCHING

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for indicating return time on network switching, where a second network element determines that expected activity will last more than a maximum allowed time of temporary absence from a first network element. An assistance information message is transmitted to the first network element to indicate a preference to leave the connection, and a connection release message is received from the first network element to indicate for a user equipment to return to the connection.

  • Method for indicating return time on network switching
  • Determination of expected activity duration in a second network element
  • Transmission of assistance information message to first network element
  • Reception of connection release message from first network element
  • Indication for user equipment to return to connection
      1. Potential Applications
  • Telecommunications networks
  • Data centers
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
      1. Problems Solved
  • Efficient management of network connections
  • Minimization of downtime for user equipment
  • Optimization of network resources
      1. Benefits
  • Improved network reliability
  • Enhanced user experience
  • Increased efficiency in network operations

Original Abstract Submitted

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for return time indication on network switching. A method may include determining that expected activity in a second network element will last more than a maximum allowed time of temporary absence from a first network element while being connected to the first network element. The method may also include transmitting based on the determination, to the first network element, an assistance information message indicating a preference to leave the connection with the first network element. The method may further include receiving a connection release message from the first network element including an indication for a user equipment to return to the connection with the first network element, in response to the assistance information message.
