IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18350078 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
Simplified Explanation
The image forming apparatus described in the patent application includes a medium accommodating part, an image forming engine, a discharge part, a medium conveyer, a medium holder, and a controller. The controller can select between a first discharge mode where the medium holder continues to hold the medium under certain conditions, and a second discharge mode where the medium holder does not hold the medium or releases it after a prescribed period. The holding conditions include criteria such as the material of the medium not corresponding to specific materials and the medium length being less than a threshold value.
- Medium accommodating part, image forming engine, discharge part, medium conveyer, medium holder, and controller are key components of the image forming apparatus.
- The controller can choose between a first discharge mode and a second discharge mode based on specific holding conditions.
- Holding conditions include factors like material type and medium length.
Potential Applications
This technology can be applied in various industries such as printing, packaging, and labeling where precise control over the medium is required.

Original Abstract Submitted
An image forming apparatus includes a medium accommodating part, an image forming engine, a discharge part, a medium conveyer configured to convey a medium from the medium accommodating part to the image forming engine and to the discharge part, a medium holder configured to hold the medium discharged to the discharge part, and a controller. The controller selects a first discharge mode for causing the medium holder to continue to hold the medium when a holding condition is satisfied or a second discharge mode for causing the medium holder not to hold the medium or to hold the medium for a prescribed period and then release the medium. The holding condition includes at least one of a first condition being that material of the medium does not correspond to specific materials and a second condition being that a medium length is less than a first threshold value.
