WAKE UP SIGNAL FOR MULTIPLE CARRIERS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18342594 titled 'WAKE UP SIGNAL FOR MULTIPLE CARRIERS

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure relates to wireless communication and specifically to a method for configuring a user equipment (UE) to communicate on a set of carriers after waking up in response to a wake-up signal (WUS). The UE receives a configuration indicating the available carriers and the UE also receives the WUS. Upon receiving the WUS, the UE wakes up its first radio and starts communicating on the first set of carriers.

  • The UE receives a configuration indicating a set of carriers for communication on the first radio after waking up in response to a WUS.
  • The UE receives the WUS signal.
  • The UE wakes up its first radio in response to the WUS signal.
  • The UE starts communicating on the first set of carriers after waking up.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Mobile devices
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient utilization of available carriers
  • Quick and reliable wake-up and communication process for UEs

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved communication efficiency
  • Reduced power consumption
  • Faster wake-up and communication process for UEs

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration that indicates a set of carriers of a plurality of available carriers, the set of carriers being for communication on a first radio of the UE after the first radio wakes up in response to a wake up signal (WUS). The UE may receive the WUS. The UE may wake up the first radio to communicate on the first set of carriers. Numerous other aspects are described.
