RECORDING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18339890 titled 'RECORDING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a recording apparatus that includes a recording unit, a pump unit, a wall portion, a body, and a housing. The body can be changed in position between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the body is housed in the housing, while in the open position, the body protrudes from the housing and exposes a part of it. The wall portion is provided to hide at least a part of the pump unit when the body is in the open position.

  • The recording apparatus includes a recording unit that ejects ink onto a medium for recording.
  • A pump unit is included to suck waste liquid discharged from the recording unit during maintenance.
  • The body, housing the recording unit, pump unit, and wall portion, can be changed in position between a closed and open position.
  • In the closed position, the body is housed within the housing, while in the open position, it protrudes and exposes a part of it.
  • The wall portion is strategically placed to hide at least a part of the pump unit when the body is in the open position.

Potential Applications

  • Printing and recording devices that require maintenance and waste liquid management.
  • Industrial printing systems that utilize ink ejection technology.
  • Office printers and multifunction devices that need efficient waste liquid disposal.

Problems Solved

  • Provides a convenient and space-saving solution for housing and accessing the recording unit and pump unit.
  • Prevents the exposed pump unit from being visually unappealing or obstructive.
  • Enhances the overall functionality and usability of recording apparatus during maintenance operations.

Benefits

  • Improved user experience with easy access to the recording unit and pump unit.
  • Efficient waste liquid management and maintenance procedures.
  • Compact design that saves space and reduces clutter in the working environment.

Original Abstract Submitted

A recording apparatus includes a recording unit that performs recording by ejecting ink onto a medium; a pump unit that sucks a waste liquid discharged from the recording unit in a maintenance of the recording unit; a wall portion; a body in which the recording unit, the pump unit, and the wall portion are provided; and a housing in which the body is housed. The body is provided in the housing in such a way as to be changed in position between a closed position and an open position in a depth direction. The closed position is a position where the body is housed in the housing. The open position is a position where the body protrudes from the housing and where a part of the body is exposed from the housing. The wall portion is provided at a position of hiding at least a part of the pump unit exposed when the body is located at the open position.
