METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING COMMUNICATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18334835 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING COMMUNICATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a communication system that supports higher data rates than 4G systems like LTE, specifically 5G or 6G. The system involves a base station and a user equipment (UE) and includes the following steps:

  • The base station receives channel state information (CSI) measured by the UE based on a first CSI-reference signal (RS).
  • Based on the CSI information, the base station determines one autoencoder (AE) from a set of AEs.
  • The base station transmits information to the UE indicating which encoder is included in the determined AE.
  • The base station also transmits a second CSI-RS to the UE.
  • The UE compresses the CSI based on the second CSI-RS and the indicated encoder and sends it back to the base station.
  • The base station performs reconstruction using the compressed CSI and a decoder included in the determined AE.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This technology can be used in 5G or 6G communication systems to support higher data rates, enabling faster and more efficient communication.
  • It can be applied in various industries that require high-speed and reliable communication, such as autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
  • The technology can enhance real-time applications like video streaming, online gaming, and virtual reality, providing a seamless and immersive user experience.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The system addresses the need for higher data rates in communication systems beyond 4G, as the existing LTE technology may not be sufficient to handle the increasing demand for data.
  • It solves the challenge of efficiently transmitting and receiving channel state information, which is crucial for optimizing the performance of the communication system.
  • The technology also tackles the problem of compressing and reconstructing CSI, allowing for efficient data transmission and reduced bandwidth requirements.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The use of 5G or 6G communication systems enables faster and more reliable data transmission, supporting a wide range of applications and services.
  • By efficiently utilizing channel state information, the system can optimize the performance of the communication network, leading to improved network capacity and reduced latency.
  • The technology allows for better resource allocation and management, resulting in enhanced overall system efficiency and improved user experience.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed is a 5generation (5G) or 6generation (6G) communication system for supporting higher data rates after a 4generation (4G) communication systems such as long term evolution (LTE). An operating method of a base station includes receiving, from a user equipment (UE), information about channel state information (CSI) measured based on a first CSI-reference signal (RS), determining, based on the information about the CSI, one autoencoder (AE), from among a plurality of AEs, transmitting, to the UE, information indicating an encoder included in the determined AE, transmitting a second CSI-RS to the UE, receiving, from the UE, CSI compressed based on CSI measured using the second CSI-RS and the indicated encoder, and performing reconstruction based on the compressed CSI and a decoder included in the determined AE.
