DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING ORGANIC PATTERNS WITH INCLINED SIDEWALLS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18321727 titled 'DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING ORGANIC PATTERNS WITH INCLINED SIDEWALLS AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display apparatus with a unique structure involving organic layers and light-shielding walls.

  • The display apparatus includes a substrate and a display element on the substrate.
  • A first organic layer with reverse-graded sidewalls and first organic patterns is disposed on the display element.
  • Light-shielding walls are placed on the sidewalls of the first organic patterns.
  • A second organic layer with alternating sidewall inclinations and second organic patterns is on the first organic layer.
  • Light-shielding walls are also present on the sidewalls of the second organic patterns.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be used in the development of high-resolution displays for electronic devices.
  • It may find applications in virtual reality headsets, smartphones, and tablets.

Problems Solved:

  • The technology helps in improving display quality by reducing light leakage and enhancing contrast.
  • It provides a more efficient way of controlling light transmission in display devices.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced display quality with improved contrast and reduced light leakage.
  • Increased efficiency in controlling light transmission within the display apparatus.
  • Potential for developing high-resolution displays for various electronic devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display apparatus includes a substrate. A display element is disposed on the substrate. A first organic layer is disposed on the display element and includes a plurality of first organic patterns. The plurality of first organic patterns extends in a first direction and has reverse-graded sidewalls. A plurality of first light-shielding walls is disposed on sidewalls of the plurality of first organic patterns. A second organic layer is disposed on the first organic layer and includes a plurality of second organic patterns. The plurality of second organic patterns extends in the first direction and has sidewalls with alternating directions of inclination. A plurality of second light-shielding walls is disposed at sidewalls of the plurality of second organic patterns.
