PIXEL, DISPLAY APPARATUS INCLUDING PIXEL, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18303327 titled 'PIXEL, DISPLAY APPARATUS INCLUDING PIXEL, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING DISPLAY APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a display apparatus with a pixel that includes various components such as capacitors, transistors, and light emitting elements. The pixel is connected to different voltage lines and scan lines.

  • The pixel includes a capacitor connected to a first voltage line.
  • It also includes a light emitting element connected to a second voltage line.
  • The pixel has a first transistor with a gate electrode connected to the capacitor.
  • There is a second transistor connected to a data line and its gate electrode is connected to the first scan line.
  • A third transistor with a gate electrode connected to a second scan line is also present.
  • A fourth transistor with a gate electrode connected to a third scan line is included.
  • The third transistor or the fourth transistor has multiple active areas with a common conductive area in between.
  • The gate electrode of the third or fourth transistor overlaps both the common conductive area and the multiple active areas in a plan view.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display screens for electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and televisions.
  • Monitors for computers and gaming consoles.
  • Signage and advertising displays.
  • Automotive displays for infotainment systems and instrument clusters.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Improved pixel performance and functionality.
  • Enhanced image quality and resolution.
  • Efficient power consumption and longer battery life.
  • Reduction in manufacturing costs and complexity.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Higher pixel density and sharper images.
  • Faster response times and smoother motion display.
  • Lower power consumption and improved energy efficiency.
  • Simplified manufacturing process and reduced production costs.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display apparatus including a pixel. The pixel includes a capacitor connected to a first voltage line, a light emitting element connected to a second voltage line, a first transistor including a first gate electrode connected to the capacitor, a second transistor connected to a data line and including a second gate electrode connected to the first scan line, a third transistor including a third gate electrode connected to a second scan line, and a fourth transistor including a fourth gate electrode connected to a third scan line, wherein at least one of the third transistor or the fourth transistor includes a plurality of active areas spaced apart from each other with a common conductive area therebetween, wherein at least one of the third gate electrode or the fourth gate electrode overlaps each of the common conductive area and the plurality of active areas in a plan view.
