METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PERFORMING SOUNDING PROCEDURE IN WIRELESS LAN SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18278816 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PERFORMING SOUNDING PROCEDURE IN WIRELESS LAN SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method and device for a sounding procedure in a wireless LAN system involving the transmission or reception of a null data physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) announcement frame.

  • The method involves receiving an NDP announcement frame from a second station on different frequency units related to different PPDU formats, and transmitting a feedback frame to the second station based on the received information.
    • Potential Applications:

- Wireless communication systems - Network optimization and performance improvement

    • Problems Solved:

- Efficient sounding procedures in wireless LAN systems - Enhanced communication reliability and performance

    • Benefits:

- Improved network efficiency - Enhanced data transmission reliability - Better overall system performance

    • Potential Commercial Applications:

- Wireless networking equipment manufacturers - Telecommunication companies - Internet service providers

    • Possible Prior Art:

- Prior art related to sounding procedures in wireless LAN systems - Previous patents on PPDU formats and transmission protocols

      1. Unanswered Questions:
        1. How does this method handle interference in crowded wireless environments?

The abstract does not provide specific details on how the method addresses interference issues in densely populated wireless environments.

        1. What impact does this method have on battery life for devices participating in the sounding procedure?

The abstract does not mention any potential impact on the battery life of devices involved in the sounding procedure.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method and a device for a sounding procedure comprising transmission or reception of a null data physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) (NDP) announcement frame, which is related to support of an aggregated-PPDU (A-PPDU) in a wireless LAN system are disclosed. A method for performing a sounding procedure by a first station (STA) in a wireless LAN system according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may comprise the steps of: receiving an NDP announcement frame from a second STA on a first frequency unit related to a first type physical layer protocol date unit (PPDU) format and a second frequency unit related to a second type PPDU format; and transmitting, to the second STA, a feedback frame related to one or more of the first frequency unit and the second frequency unit, wherein the NDP announcement frame is a single type NDP announcement frame, and comprises a specific STA information (Info) field configured to have a specific association identifier (AID) value.
