Handling of Quality-of-Experience (QOE) Measurement Status - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18274866 titled 'Handling of Quality-of-Experience (QOE) Measurement Status

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of the patent application describes techniques for managing Quality-of-Experience (QoE) measurements by a User Equipment (UE) in a radio access network (RAN). The method involves transmitting status information for QoE measurements configured for the UE to a second node in the RAN, which may be associated with the first node for various purposes such as changing UE configuration, handling UE mobility, RRC resume or reestablishment, and switching data transfer paths.

  • Explanation of the patent/innovation:

- Transmitting status information for QoE measurements from one RAN node to another - Managing QoE measurements configured for a UE - Associating nodes in the RAN for various purposes related to UE management

Potential applications of this technology: - Enhanced QoE management in wireless networks - Improved user satisfaction with network services

Problems solved by this technology: - Efficient management of QoE measurements for UEs - Seamless handover and mobility support in RANs

Benefits of this technology: - Enhanced user experience with network services - Optimal utilization of network resources

Potential commercial applications of this technology: - Telecommunication companies - Network equipment manufacturers

Possible prior art: - Existing methods for managing QoE measurements in wireless networks

Questions: 1. How does this technology impact network efficiency? - This technology improves network efficiency by optimizing QoE measurements and UE management in RANs. 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in real-world networks? - Challenges may include interoperability with existing network infrastructure and ensuring seamless integration with different RAN nodes.

Original Abstract Submitted

Techniques for managing quality-of-experience (QoE) measurements by a user equipment (UE). An example method, in a first node in a radio access network (RAN), comprises transmitting (), to a second node in the RAN, status information for measurements associated to one or more QoE measurements configured for the UE by the first node. The second node may be associated with the first node with respect to at least one of the following: changing a configuration for the UE for dual connectivity; mobility of the UE; RRC resume or RRC reestablishment of the UE; and switching the transfer of data for the service from a path going to the UE via the first RAN node to a path going to the UE via the second RAN node.
