MEDICAL SYSTEM FOR VENTILATION AND IMAGING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18274736 titled 'MEDICAL SYSTEM FOR VENTILATION AND IMAGING

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure describes a medical system comprising a data processing unit, a mechanical ventilator, and a medical imaging device. The data processing unit obtains ventilation status information from the ventilator and triggers image acquisition based on specific criteria.

  • Data processing unit obtains ventilation status information from the mechanical ventilator.
  • Data processing unit triggers acquisition of a first image based on specific criteria.
  • Data processing unit triggers acquisition of subsequent images based on additional criteria.

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in medical settings to monitor and assess the ventilation status of patients in real-time, allowing for prompt imaging when necessary.

Problems Solved

This system helps in quickly identifying and addressing any issues with the ventilation status of patients, leading to better and more efficient medical care.

Benefits

- Real-time monitoring of ventilation status - Prompt imaging when needed - Improved patient care and outcomes

Potential Commercial Applications

The technology could be utilized in hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities to enhance patient care and streamline medical imaging processes.

Possible Prior Art

There may be existing systems that combine mechanical ventilators with medical imaging devices, but the specific criteria-based triggering of image acquisition as described in this disclosure may be a novel feature.

What are the specific criteria used to trigger image acquisition in this system?

The specific criteria used to trigger image acquisition in this system are not explicitly mentioned in the abstract. It would be helpful to know what parameters or conditions need to be met for the data processing unit to initiate image acquisition.

How does the mobility of the medical imaging device enhance the functionality of the system?

The abstract mentions that the medical imaging device is configured as a mobile device. It would be interesting to explore how this mobility feature contributes to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the medical system.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure provides a medical system () comprising at least one data processing unit (), a mechanical ventilator (), configured to be operated to cause a ventilation status at a to-be-ventilated subject, and a medical imaging device (), configured as a mobile device. The at least one data processing unit () is configured to obtain, from the mechanical ventilator (), ventilation status information associated with the ventilation status of the to-be-ventilated subject. Further, the at least one data processing unit () is further configured to trigger acquisition of a first image if the ventilation status meets a first image acquisition criterion. Furthermore, the at least data processing unit () is further configured to trigger acquisition of at least one subsequent, further image if the ventilation status meets a second image acquisition criterion.
