Conditional Handover OAM Measurements - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18271152 titled 'Conditional Handover OAM Measurements
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a patent application related to a radio base station in a mobile communication network that sends handover requests to multiple target base stations to initiate handover of a wireless device. The base station maintains handover counters for monitoring and evaluating performance, and increments a handover counter associated with the wireless device in response to receiving handover response messages from target base stations.
- The radio base station sends handover request messages to multiple target base stations.
- The base station maintains handover counters for monitoring and evaluating performance.
- Handover response messages are received from respective target base stations.
- The base station increments a handover counter associated with the wireless device in response to receiving handover response messages.
Potential Applications
This technology can be applied in various mobile communication networks to improve handover processes and enhance overall network performance.
Problems Solved
1. Efficient handover initiation in mobile communication networks. 2. Monitoring and evaluating handover performance in real-time.
Benefits
1. Improved handover process for wireless devices. 2. Enhanced network performance and reliability. 3. Real-time monitoring and evaluation of handover performance.
Potential Commercial Applications
Optimizing handover processes in 5G networks for seamless connectivity.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art could be the use of handover counters in traditional mobile communication networks to monitor handover performance.

Original Abstract Submitted
A radio base station in a mobile communication network sends a handover request message to multiple target base stations to initiate handover of a wireless device. The radio base station maintains one or more handovers counters used for monitoring and evaluating performance. The base station receives one or more handover response messages from respective target base stations. In response to receiving the one or more handover response messages, the base station increments a handover counter associated with the wireless device once regardless of a number of the handover response messages received.
