PRS MEASUREMENT SHARING FOR VIRTUAL UE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18264540 titled 'PRS MEASUREMENT SHARING FOR VIRTUAL UE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application is about a communication device and method for managing a user equipment (UE) group, as well as a method for providing position information from a first UE.

  • The method of managing a UE group involves determining a group of UEs based on their proximity to each other and transmitting an indication of the UE group to at least one of the UEs.
  • The method of providing position information from a first UE involves transmitting the position information from the first UE to a communication device.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Group communication: The technology can be used to facilitate communication and coordination among a group of UEs that are in close proximity to each other. This can be useful in scenarios such as team-based activities, emergency response situations, or group tours.
  • Location-based services: By providing position information from a UE, the technology can enable location-based services such as targeted advertising, navigation assistance, or location-specific notifications.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient group management: The technology allows for the efficient management of a UE group by determining the group based on proximity. This eliminates the need for manual grouping or individual communication with each UE.
  • Accurate position information: The technology enables the transmission of accurate position information from a UE to a communication device, which can be useful for various applications that rely on location data.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved communication efficiency: By managing UEs in a group based on proximity, the technology enables more efficient communication and coordination among the UEs, reducing the need for individual communication with each UE.
  • Enhanced user experience: The provision of accurate position information from a UE can enhance the user experience by enabling personalized and location-specific services.
  • Simplified group management: The technology simplifies the process of managing a UE group by automatically determining the group based on proximity, reducing the need for manual intervention.

Original Abstract Submitted

This disclosure relates to communication device and method of managing a user equipment group, first user equipment and method of providing position information from a first user equipment. A method of managing a UE group includes: determining a plurality of UEs of the UE group based on proximity of each of the plurality of UEs to at least one other UE of the plurality of UEs; and transmitting, from a communication device, to at least one of the plurality of UEs of the UE group, an indication of the UE group.
