PUNCTURING OF INTER-FREQUENCY MEASUREMENTS DURING EVOLVED PACKET SYSTEM FALLBACK CALL PROCEDURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18263044 titled 'PUNCTURING OF INTER-FREQUENCY MEASUREMENTS DURING EVOLVED PACKET SYSTEM FALLBACK CALL PROCEDURE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes techniques for wireless communication, specifically focusing on the setup of an evolved packet system fallback (EPSFB) call procedure by a User Equipment (UE). During this procedure, the UE is associated with network-configured inter-frequency measurements to be performed at a specific interval. The UE has the capability to puncture some or all of these network-configured inter-frequency measurements during the EPSFB call procedure.

  • UE sets up an EPSFB call procedure associated with network-configured inter-frequency measurements.
  • UE performs inter-frequency measurements at a specified interval.
  • UE can puncture some or all of the network-configured inter-frequency measurements during the EPSFB call procedure.

Potential Applications

  • Mobile communication systems
  • Wireless network optimization
  • Handover procedures in cellular networks

Problems Solved

  • Efficient utilization of network resources
  • Improved handover performance
  • Enhanced user experience in wireless communication

Benefits

  • Reduced interference
  • Faster handover process
  • Enhanced network efficiency

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a UE sets up an evolved packet system fallback (EPSFB) call procedure that is associated with network-configured inter-frequency measurements to be performed by the UE at a first inter-frequency measurement interval. The UE punctures some or all of the network-configured inter-frequency measurements during the EPSFB call procedure.
