DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION (DCI) FORMAT FOR BEAM INDICATION WITHOUT SCHEDULING DATA AND CAPABILITY REPORTING - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18261973 titled 'DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION (DCI) FORMAT FOR BEAM INDICATION WITHOUT SCHEDULING DATA AND CAPABILITY REPORTING
Simplified Explanation
This disclosure introduces a system where a base station can transmit downlink control information (DCI) without downlink data to indicate a transmission configuration indicator (TCI). A user equipment (UE) can transmit a capability indication to signal if it can receive DCI with a TCI and without a data assignment. The UE can then interpret the DCI, based on configured fields, to identify a TCI which could be a Type 1 beam indication or another type of beam indication.
- Base station can transmit DCI without downlink data
- UE can transmit capability indication for receiving DCI with TCI
- DCI can be interpreted by UE to identify TCI, such as beam indications
- Various DCI formats can be used, indicating different configurations with TCI
Potential Applications
- 5G and future wireless communication systems
- Beamforming technologies
- Efficient downlink control information transmission
Problems Solved
- Efficient transmission of downlink control information
- Simplified interpretation of DCI by user equipment
- Improved beamforming capabilities
Benefits
- Enhanced communication efficiency
- Better utilization of resources
- Improved user experience in wireless networks
Original Abstract Submitted
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses that enable abase station (BS) to transmit downlink control information (DCI) without downlink data to indicate a transmission configuration indicator (TCI). In one aspect, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a capability indication associated with whether the UE can receive DCI with a TCI and without a data assignment. The UE may receive DCI with one or more configured fields and without downlink data and may interpret the DCI, based on the one or more configured fields, to identify a TCI. The TCI may be a Type 1 beam indication or another type of beam indication. The DCI may C be a DCI format 1_1 or 1_2 or another DCI format, such as DCI format 1_0 or a DCI scheduling an uplink configuration, among other CN examples, and may indicate another configuration with the TCI.
