MIGRATION OF REMOTE DATA PROCESSING BETWEEN SERVERS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18255071 titled 'MIGRATION OF REMOTE DATA PROCESSING BETWEEN SERVERS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a gateway system that facilitates the streaming of data from a client device to a remote server for processing. The system can identify blocks of packets in the data stream and independently process each block. Additionally, the system can facilitate the migration of processing from one remote server to another by determining the starting point for processing on the new server and streaming the relevant data blocks accordingly.

  • The gateway system acts as an intermediary between a client device and a remote server for streaming data.
  • It can identify and process blocks of packets in the data stream independently.
  • The system can facilitate the migration of processing from one remote server to another by determining the starting point for processing on the new server and streaming the relevant data blocks accordingly.

Potential Applications

The technology could be applied in cloud computing environments, content delivery networks, and remote processing systems.

Problems Solved

The system solves the problem of efficiently migrating processing tasks between remote servers without interrupting the data stream.

Benefits

The system allows for seamless migration of processing tasks, improves system efficiency, and enhances scalability in remote processing environments.

Potential Commercial Applications

The technology could be utilized in cloud service providers, streaming platforms, and data processing companies.

Possible Prior Art

Prior art may include similar systems for data streaming and remote processing in cloud computing environments.

Unanswered Questions

How does the system handle data security and privacy during the migration process?

The article does not address the specific mechanisms or protocols used to ensure data security and privacy during the migration of processing tasks between remote servers.

What are the potential limitations or challenges of implementing this technology in real-world applications?

The article does not discuss any potential obstacles or drawbacks that may arise when implementing this technology in practical settings, such as compatibility issues with existing systems or scalability concerns.

Original Abstract Submitted

A gateway system is described for use as a gateway between a client device and a remote server. The client device may stream a data stream via the gateway system to the remote server for remote processing. The gateway system may receive the data stream and markers which identify respective blocks of packets in the data stream, wherein each identified block of packets is independently processable. In response to an instruction or configuration to effect a migration of the remote processing from the remote server to a further remote server, the gateway system may determine a block of packets in the data stream from which block of packets onwards the further remote server is to start processing the data stream so as to effect or initialize the migration, and when received, stream the determined block of packets and subsequent blocks of packets of the data stream to the further remote server.
