METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING BUFFER SIZE INFORMATION FOR VOLUNTARY DATA IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18252824 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING BUFFER SIZE INFORMATION FOR VOLUNTARY DATA IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The present invention is a method for transmitting a buffer status report (BSR) in a wireless communication system. The method is performed by a wireless node that has two logical channels.

  • The wireless node generates uplink data for either the first logical channel or the second logical channel.
  • The BSR is triggered, indicating that the wireless node needs to report its buffer status.
  • The wireless node transmits the BSR to a peer wireless node, which includes information about the buffer size (BS) for either the first logical channel or the second logical channel.
  • If the buffer size of the first logical channel is equal to or larger than a threshold, the BSR only includes the buffer size information for the first logical channel and does not include the buffer size information for the second logical channel.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems that use multiple logical channels.
  • Systems that require efficient transmission of buffer status reports.
  • Networks that need to optimize the use of logical channels based on buffer size information.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient transmission of buffer status reports in wireless communication systems.
  • Optimization of logical channel usage based on buffer size information.
  • Reduction of unnecessary transmission of buffer size information when it is not needed.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved efficiency in wireless communication systems.
  • Enhanced optimization of logical channel usage.
  • Reduction of unnecessary signaling overhead.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present invention relates to a method of transmitting a buffer status report (BSR) by a wireless node configured with a first logical channel and a second logical channel in a wireless communication system. Especially, the method includes the steps of generating at least one of an uplink data related to the first logical channel and an uplink data related to the second logical channel; triggering the BSR; and transmitting the BSR including at least one of buffer size (BS) information related to the first logical channel and the BS information related to the second logical channel to a peer wireless node, wherein, based on the BS of the first logical channel being equal to or larger than the threshold, the BSR includes the BS information related to the first logical channel without the BS information related to the second logical channel
