METHOD FOR PREVENTING HAND GESTURE MISRECOGNITION AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18250225 titled 'METHOD FOR PREVENTING HAND GESTURE MISRECOGNITION AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE
Simplified Explanation
Abstract Explanation
The patent application describes a method for preventing hand gesture misrecognition. It involves recognizing whether a user is exercising by analyzing their motion data in real time. Based on this recognition, the electronic device can choose to disable or enable the hand gesture recognition function accordingly. Additionally, the method allows for adaptive adjustment of a trigger threshold for hand gesture recognition based on the angle between the user's body plane and the plane on which the electronic device is located.
Bullet Points
- Method for preventing hand gesture misrecognition
- Recognizes if a user is exercising by analyzing their motion data in real time
- Disables hand gesture recognition if the user is exercising
- Enables hand gesture recognition if the user is not exercising
- Adaptive adjustment of trigger threshold for hand gesture recognition based on the angle between user's body plane and device plane
Potential Applications
- Smartphones and tablets with hand gesture recognition capabilities
- Gaming consoles and virtual reality systems
- Home automation systems with gesture-based controls
- Fitness and health tracking devices
Problems Solved
- Prevents misrecognition of hand gestures during exercise, avoiding unintended actions or commands
- Enhances user experience by enabling or disabling hand gesture recognition based on user activity
- Improves accuracy of hand gesture recognition by adapting the trigger threshold based on user's body position
Benefits
- Avoids accidental triggering of hand gestures during exercise, reducing frustration and potential errors
- Provides a more seamless and intuitive user interface by enabling hand gesture recognition when not exercising
- Increases the accuracy and reliability of hand gesture recognition by adjusting the trigger threshold based on user's body position
Original Abstract Submitted
A method for preventing hand gesture misrecognition is provided. In the method for preventing hand gesture misrecognition, whether a user is exercising is recognized by obtaining motion data of the user in real time, to choose whether to disable a hand gesture recognition function. If the object user is exercising, the electronic device does not perform hand gesture recognition; or if the object user is not exercising, the electronic device performs hand gesture recognition. In addition, in the method, a trigger threshold for hand gesture recognition may further be adaptively adjusted based on a deflection angle between a human body plane of the user and a plane on which the electronic device is located.
