TONER CONTAINER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18235957 titled 'TONER CONTAINER

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a toner container for an image forming apparatus. The container has a toner accommodating portion, a base portion, and a shutter. The base portion includes a receiving opening, a discharge opening, and a passage for the toner to pass through. The shutter is rotatable between an open position and a closed position.

  • The toner container is designed to hold toner for an image forming apparatus.
  • The base portion has a receiving opening for the toner to enter and a discharge opening for the toner to be discharged.
  • The passage extends from the receiving opening to the discharge opening, allowing the toner to pass through.
  • The shutter can be rotated to either expose the discharge opening or cover it.
  • The passage is inclined relative to the rotational axis of the shutter, with the receiving opening crossing the rotational axis and the discharge opening not crossing it.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • This toner container can be used in various image forming apparatus such as printers, copiers, and multifunction devices.
  • It can be implemented in both home and office environments.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • The toner container provides a convenient and efficient way to store and dispense toner for image forming devices.
  • The inclined passage design ensures that the toner flows smoothly from the receiving opening to the discharge opening.

Benefits of this technology:

  • The toner container allows for easy replacement and refilling of toner.
  • The shutter mechanism helps prevent toner leakage and contamination.
  • The inclined passage design ensures efficient toner flow and reduces the risk of clogging.

Original Abstract Submitted

A toner container for use with an image forming apparatus is provided with a toner accommodating portion in which toner is accommodated; a base portion including a receiving opening for receiving the toner accommodated in the toner accommodating portion, a discharge opening for permitting discharge of the toner, received through the receiving opening, to an outside of the toner container, and a passage which is a passage extending from the receiving opening to the discharge opening and which is for permitting passing of the toner; and a shutter constituted so as to be rotatable about a rotational axis relative to the base between an open position where the discharge opening is exposed to the outside and a closed position where the shutter covers the discharge opening, wherein the passage extends in a direction in which the passage is inclined relative to the rotational axis so that the receiving opening is in a position where the receiving opening crosses the rotational axis and so that the discharge opening is in a position where the discharge opening does not cross the rotational axis.
