METHOD FOR PERSONALIZING VEHICLE LAMPS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18234716 titled 'METHOD FOR PERSONALIZING VEHICLE LAMPS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method of personalizing a vehicle lamp by allowing a user to input an image, converting the image into light-and-shade data, adjusting the pixel light distribution values based on the data, and determining if the resulting total light distribution meets a predetermined reference value before applying the image to the vehicle lamp.

  • Drawing an image of a vehicle lamp based on user input
  • Converting the drawn image into light-and-shade data
  • Adjusting pixel light distribution values based on the data
  • Determining if the total light distribution meets a predetermined reference value
  • Applying the drawn image to the vehicle lamp if the reference value is satisfied

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in the automotive industry for customizing vehicle lamps to display personalized images or designs.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of creating a method for users to personalize their vehicle lamps with custom images while ensuring the light distribution remains within predetermined parameters.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include allowing for unique customization of vehicle lamps, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of vehicles, and providing a personalized touch to the lighting design.

Potential Commercial Applications

One potential commercial application of this technology could be in the aftermarket automotive accessories industry, where companies could offer personalized vehicle lamp customization services to customers.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be methods of customizing vehicle lighting systems, but the specific process of adjusting pixel light distribution values based on converted image data may be a novel aspect of this patent application.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method of personalizing a vehicle lamp includes drawing an image made up of a plurality of pixels that implement a vehicle lamp, based on an input by a user. The method also includes converting the drawn image into light-and-shade data that correspond to the pixels, respectively, multiplying a pixel light distribution value, corresponding to each pixel, by a weighted value based on the data resulting from the conversion, adding up results of the multiplication, and deriving total light distribution of the pixels that results when brightness of the vehicle lamp is the same as that of the drawn image. The method further includes comparing the derived total light distribution against a predetermined reference value and determining whether the derived total light distribution satisfies a predetermined light distribution reference, and applying the drawn image to the vehicle lamp when it is determined that a predetermined light distribution reference is satisfied.
