METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SERVICE USING TETHERING IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18231081 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SERVICE USING TETHERING IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

    • Explanation:**

The patent application describes a system for managing policies and quality of service in a 5G or 6G communication network. The system includes a Policy Control Function (PCF) entity with a transceiver and processor. The processor updates service-related policies based on service transmission delay times per service flow, schedules quality of service based on these policies, and transmits relevant information to a Session Management Function (SMF) entity.

    • Potential Applications:**

1. 5G and 6G communication networks 2. Policy management in wireless communication systems 3. Quality of service scheduling

    • Problems Solved:**

1. Efficient management of service-related policies 2. Optimized quality of service scheduling 3. Enhanced communication system performance

    • Benefits:**

1. Higher data transmission rates 2. Improved service delivery 3. Enhanced network efficiency and performance

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, a policy control function (PCF) entity in a wireless communication system comprises a transceiver and at least one processor. The at least one processor is configured to update a service-related policy based on a service transmission delay time (delay budget adjustment) per service flow, wherein the service transmission delay time per service flow is transmitted to a tethered device, schedule a quality-of-service (QoS) based on the service-related policy, and transmit, to a session management function (SMF) entity, a first message including the per-service flow service transmission delay time per service flow, the updated service-related policy, and a QoS requirement based on the scheduled QoS.
