DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18218078 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display device with a heat spread sheet and a heat storage sheet, each containing phase change materials to manage heat distribution and storage efficiently.

  • The display device includes a display panel, a heat spread sheet, and a heat storage sheet.
  • The heat spread sheet is in contact with the display panel and contains a first phase change material.
  • The heat storage sheet is in contact with at least a portion of the heat spread sheet and contains a second phase change material with a higher boiling point than the first phase change material.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in:

  • Electronic devices to improve heat management and prevent overheating.
  • Energy-efficient displays that require less cooling systems.

Problems Solved

This technology addresses:

  • Heat dissipation issues in display devices.
  • Energy consumption related to cooling systems.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Improved heat distribution and storage.
  • Energy efficiency and reduced cooling costs.

Potential Commercial Applications

This technology could be commercially applied in:

  • Smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
  • Televisions and computer monitors.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be the use of heat spreaders and heat sinks in electronic devices to manage heat dissipation. However, the specific combination of phase change materials in the heat spread and storage sheets as described in the patent application may be a novel innovation.

Unanswered Questions

How does the efficiency of heat management compare to traditional cooling methods?

The article does not provide a direct comparison between this technology and traditional cooling methods in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.

Are there any limitations to the use of phase change materials in display devices?

The article does not discuss any potential limitations or challenges that may arise from the use of phase change materials in display devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes a display panel, a heat spread sheet below the display panel and in contact with a first surface of the display panel, and a heat storage sheet in contact with at least a portion of the heat spread sheet. The heat spread sheet includes a first phase change material. The heat storage sheet includes a second phase change material having a boiling point greater than a boiling point of the first phase change material.
