High Voltage Connector for Vehicle - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18217856 titled 'High Voltage Connector for Vehicle

Simplified Explanation

The high voltage connector for a vehicle described in the patent application features a male connector with a truncated conical protuberance-shaped first terminal, and a female connector with a second terminal equipped with a truncated conical coupling groove corresponding to the first terminal. The electrical connection between the male and female connectors is established as the first terminal is inserted into the coupling groove of the second terminal. When the two terminals are coupled, elastic deformation occurs, creating a holding force between them using elastic stress, thereby enhancing the stability of the high voltage power supply.

  • Male connector with a truncated conical protuberance-shaped first terminal
  • Female connector with a second terminal having a truncated conical coupling groove
  • Electrical connection established by inserting the first terminal into the coupling groove
  • Elastic deformation induced upon coupling for improved stability of the power supply

Potential Applications

The high voltage connector innovation could be applied in electric vehicles, charging stations, renewable energy systems, and industrial machinery.

Problems Solved

This technology addresses the challenge of maintaining a secure and stable electrical connection in high voltage applications, ensuring reliable power transmission.

Benefits

The use of elastic deformation to create a holding force between the connectors improves the stability and efficiency of the high voltage power supply, reducing the risk of disconnection or electrical faults.

Potential Commercial Applications

The high voltage connector could find commercial applications in the automotive industry, energy sector, manufacturing plants, and infrastructure development projects.

Possible Prior Art

One potential prior art could be traditional high voltage connectors that rely solely on mechanical locking mechanisms without the use of elastic deformation for enhanced stability.

Original Abstract Submitted

A high voltage connector for a vehicle may include a male connector having a truncated conical protuberance-shaped first terminal, and a female connector having a second terminal provided with a truncated conical coupling groove corresponding to the first terminal, wherein an electrical connection between the male connector and the female connector is accomplished as the first terminal is inserted into the coupling groove of the second terminal. When the first terminal and the second terminal are coupled to each other, elastic deformation may be induced which may provide a holding force between the first and second terminals using elastic stress, resulting in improved stability of a high voltage power supply.
