INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18212755 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an information processing system that helps users make environmentally conscious decisions when replacing components of a reusable product. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • Data acquisition unit acquires component data of a reusable product, including the number of times it has been reused.
  • Selection unit picks a replacement component candidate when a user replaces a component.
  • Calculation unit determines the environmental contribution degree of the candidate based on the acquired data.
  • Presentation unit shows the environmental contribution degree to the user along with the selected candidate.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in various industries where reusable products are used, such as electronics, automotive, and household goods.

Problems Solved

1. Encourages users to make environmentally friendly choices by providing information on the environmental impact of their decisions. 2. Helps users extend the lifespan of reusable products by guiding them towards suitable replacement components.

Benefits

1. Promotes sustainability by encouraging reuse and reducing waste. 2. Empowers users to make informed decisions that align with their environmental values.

Potential Commercial Applications

Sustainable Product Development in Consumer Electronics

This technology can be integrated into the design process of consumer electronics to promote the reuse of components and reduce electronic waste.

Eco-Friendly Automotive Industry Practices

Automotive companies can use this system to guide customers towards environmentally friendly replacement parts, promoting sustainability in the industry.

Unanswered Questions

How does the system determine the environmental contribution degree of a candidate product?

The abstract mentions a calculation unit, but the specific methodology is not detailed.

Are there any limitations to the types of reusable products this system can be applied to?

The abstract does not specify if there are any restrictions on the types of products or components that can be evaluated using this system.

Original Abstract Submitted

The information processing system includes: a data acquisition unit that acquires component data of a reusable product related to environmental contribution of the reusable product including at least the number of times of reuse of the reusable product; a selection unit that selects a candidate of the reusable product that is a replacement component candidate when the user replaces the component; a calculation unit that calculates an environmental contribution degree of the candidate of the reusable product selected by the selection unit based on the component data of the reusable product acquired by the data acquisition unit; and a presentation unit that presents, to the user, the environmental contribution degree of the candidate of the reusable product calculated by the calculation unit together with the candidate of the reusable product selected by the selection unit.
