LINEAR COMPRESSOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18204815 titled 'LINEAR COMPRESSOR

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a linear compressor with a unique muffler system to reduce noise and improve efficiency.

  • The linear compressor includes a cylinder, a piston, a first muffler unit, a back cover, and a second muffler unit.
  • The first muffler unit consists of an inner guide and a first intake muffler, while the second muffler unit includes a second intake muffler and a muffler body.
  • The second intake muffler has a communication hole to connect with the space between the muffler body and itself.

Potential Applications

The technology can be applied in various industries such as refrigeration, air conditioning, and pneumatic systems where noise reduction and efficiency are crucial.

Problems Solved

The innovation addresses the issue of noise generated by traditional compressors, providing a quieter operation without compromising performance.

Benefits

The linear compressor offers reduced noise levels, improved efficiency, and potentially longer lifespan due to the muffler system's design.

Potential Commercial Applications

"Quiet and Efficient Linear Compressor Technology for HVAC Systems"

Possible Prior Art

Prior art may include traditional linear compressors with basic muffler systems or noise reduction techniques.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology compare to other noise reduction methods in compressors?

The article does not provide a comparison with other noise reduction methods such as vibration dampening or sound insulation. Further research is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of this technology in comparison to existing solutions.

What are the potential maintenance requirements for the muffler system in this linear compressor?

The article does not address the maintenance needs of the muffler system. Understanding the maintenance requirements can help assess the long-term cost-effectiveness of implementing this technology.

Original Abstract Submitted

A linear compressor includes a cylinder, a piston axially reciprocating in the cylinder, a first muffler unit coupled to the piston, a back cover that is disposed at a rear of the piston and defines an opening at a radially central area, and a second muffler unit coupled to the opening. The first muffler unit includes an inner guide disposed in the piston and a first intake muffler disposed at a rear of the inner guide. The second muffler unit includes a second intake muffler that communicates with the first intake muffler and is coupled to the opening, and a muffler body surrounding the second intake muffler. An outer circumferential surface of the second intake muffler defines a first communication hole communicating an inside of the second intake muffler with a space between the second intake muffler and the muffler body.
