SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR VEHICULAR DATA COMMUNICATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18199669 titled 'SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR VEHICULAR DATA COMMUNICATION

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure describes a method for configuring an integrated resource pool for use in a 5G wireless communication system. The method involves configuring two logical resource pools for V2X sidelink communication: one for open loop communication and one for closed-loop communication. Additionally, the method includes configuring a primary set of resources and one or more secondary sets of resources from the second logical resource pool for secured intra-platoon communications.

  • The method configures a first logical resource pool for V2X sidelink communication, specifically for sharing driving-related application data such as status data, sensor data, and intention data.
  • The method also configures a second logical resource pool for V2X sidelink communication, specifically for sharing time-sensitive coordination data. This includes short distance grouping like synchronised coordination driving and long distance grouping like platooning.
  • The method further configures one primary set of resources and one or more secondary sets of resources from the second logical resource pool. These resources are dedicated to secure intra-platoon communications.

Potential Applications

  • This method can be applied in advanced wireless communication systems, particularly in 5G systems.
  • It can be used in V2X (vehicle-to-everything) sidelink communication, enabling the exchange of driving-related data and time-sensitive coordination data.
  • The method is suitable for applications involving driving-related data sharing, such as status data, sensor data, and intention data.
  • It is also applicable to applications requiring time-sensitive coordination data exchange, including short distance grouping and long distance grouping.

Problems Solved

  • The method solves the problem of efficiently configuring an integrated resource pool for V2X sidelink communication in a 5G system.
  • It addresses the need for separate logical resource pools for open loop communication and closed-loop communication.
  • The method provides a solution for secure intra-platoon communications by configuring dedicated primary and secondary sets of resources.

Benefits

  • The method allows for efficient sharing of driving-related application data and time-sensitive coordination data in V2X sidelink communication.
  • It enables synchronized coordination driving and platooning, improving overall traffic efficiency and safety.
  • The method ensures secure intra-platoon communications, enhancing the reliability and privacy of communication within platoons.
  • It optimizes the utilization of resources in the integrated resource pool, maximizing the efficiency of the wireless communication system.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure relates to a method of configuring an integrated resource pool for use in an advanced wireless communication system such as 5G (the Fifth Generation) system. The method comprises configuring a first logical resource pool dedicated for V2X sidelink communication, or open loop communication, in sharing driving related application data including but not being limited to status data, sensor data, and intention data. Further, the method comprises configuring a second logical resource pool dedicated for V2X sidelink communication, or closed-loop communication, in sharing time-sensitive coordination data and/or exchanging time-sensitive coordination data in short distance grouping such as synchronised coordination driving and long distance grouping such as platooning. The method further comprises configuring one primary set of resources and one or more secondary sets of resources from the second logical resource pool for secured intra-platoon communications.
