DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18191765 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a display device that includes a display panel, a scan driver, an emission driver, and a readout circuit. The display panel consists of pixels and photo sensors connected to various lines.

  • The display device includes a display panel, scan driver, emission driver, and readout circuit.
  • The display panel has pixels and photo sensors connected to different lines.
  • The scan driver provides scan signals to scan lines.
  • The emission driver provides emission control signals to emission control lines.
  • The readout circuit receives a sensing signal from a readout line.
  • The pixels and photo sensors are arranged in rows.
  • Each row has a different combination of sub-scan lines, emission control lines, and readout lines.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Consumer electronics such as televisions, smartphones, and tablets.
  • Computer monitors and laptops.
  • Automotive displays and infotainment systems.
  • Virtual reality and augmented reality devices.
  • Medical imaging equipment.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Improved display quality and performance.
  • Efficient control of scan signals and emission control signals.
  • Accurate sensing and readout of signals from the display panel.
  • Enhanced pixel and photo sensor arrangement for better image reproduction.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Higher resolution and sharper images on display devices.
  • Reduced power consumption and improved energy efficiency.
  • Enhanced color accuracy and contrast ratio.
  • Faster response time for smoother video playback.
  • More accurate sensing and readout of display signals.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes: a display panel; a scan driver to provide scan signals to scan lines; an emission driver to provide emission control signals to emission control lines; and a readout circuit to receive a sensing signal from a readout line. The display panel includes: a first pixel in a first row, and connected to a first sub-scan line from among the scan lines, and a first emission control line; a first photo sensor in the first row, and connected to the first sub-scan line, a reset control line, and the readout line; a second pixel in a second row, and connected to a second sub-scan line from among the scan lines, and a second emission control line; and a second photo sensor in the second row, and connected to the second sub-scan line, a third emission control line, and the readout line.
