PHYSICAL LAYER AND MAC LAYER UPLINK CHANNEL PRIORITIZATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18166232 titled 'PHYSICAL LAYER AND MAC LAYER UPLINK CHANNEL PRIORITIZATION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of this patent application describes a wireless communication system where a user equipment (UE) can select between two different types of communication for transmission in an overlapping resource. The selection is based on a rule and the UE then transmits the selected communication.

  • The patent application relates to wireless communication technology.
  • A user equipment (UE) can choose between two different types of communication for transmission.
  • The selected communication is transmitted in an overlapping resource.
  • The selection is based on a rule.
  • The technology allows for the transmission of multiple types of communication in the same resource.
  • The patent application provides various aspects and details of the invention.

Potential Applications

This technology can have various potential applications in the field of wireless communication, including:

  • Mobile networks: The ability to transmit different types of communication in the same resource can improve the efficiency and capacity of mobile networks.
  • Internet of Things (IoT): IoT devices often have different types of traffic, and this technology can enable more efficient communication between these devices.
  • Smart cities: In a smart city environment, where various devices and systems need to communicate, this technology can optimize the use of resources and improve overall communication performance.

Problems Solved

This technology solves several problems in wireless communication:

  • Resource optimization: By allowing different types of communication to overlap in the same resource, the technology optimizes the use of available resources.
  • Efficiency: The ability to select the most appropriate communication type based on a rule improves the efficiency of the communication system.
  • Capacity: By enabling the transmission of multiple types of communication in the same resource, the technology increases the capacity of the wireless network.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Improved efficiency: The ability to select the most suitable communication type based on a rule improves the overall efficiency of the wireless communication system.
  • Increased capacity: By allowing multiple types of communication to overlap in the same resource, the technology increases the capacity of the network.
  • Resource optimization: The technology optimizes the use of available resources, leading to better utilization and improved performance of the wireless network.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may select a first communication, associated with a first traffic type, or a second communication, associated with a second traffic type, as a selected communication for transmission in an overlapping resource, wherein the first communication and the second communication at least partially overlap in time, and wherein the selection is performed based at least in part on a rule; and transmit the selected communication. Numerous other aspects are provided.
