METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INDEXING OF SS/PBCH BLOCK IN UNLICENSED SPECTRUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18165185 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INDEXING OF SS/PBCH BLOCK IN UNLICENSED SPECTRUM
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a method and apparatus for a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. Here are the key points:
- The UE receives a synchronization signal and physical broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) block.
- It determines whether a shared spectrum channel access is enabled.
- Based on the number of candidate SS/PBCH blocks in a half frame, it determines a first index of the SS/PBCH block as a candidate SS/PBCH block index (I).
- It also determines a second index of the SS/PBCH block as an SS/PBCH block index (I) based on a quasi-co-location (QCL) parameter (Q) indicated by a PBCH in the SS/PBCH block.
- The SS/PBCH block index (I) is determined as: I=Imod Q if shared spectrum channel access is enabled, where mod is a modular operation; or I=I if shared spectrum channel access is not enabled.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Wireless communication systems
- User equipment (UE) devices
- Synchronization signal and physical broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) blocks
Problems solved by this technology:
- Efficient determination of SS/PBCH block indexes in a wireless communication system
- Handling shared spectrum channel access in a UE device
Benefits of this technology:
- Improved synchronization and channel access in wireless communication systems
- Enhanced efficiency and performance of UE devices in shared spectrum scenarios
Original Abstract Submitted
A method and apparatus of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method and apparatus comprises: receiving a synchronization signals and physical broadcast channel (SS/PBCH) block; determining whether a shared spectrum channel access is enabled; determining a first index of the SS/PBCH block as a candidate SS/PBCH block index (I) based on a number of candidate SS/PBCH blocks in a half frame; and determining a second index of the SS/PBCH block as an SS/PBCH block index (I) based on a quasi-co-location (QCL) parameter (Q) indicated by a PBCH in the SS/PBCH block, wherein the SS/PBCH block index (I) is determined as: I=Imod Q based on a determination that the shared spectrum channel access is enabled, where mod is a modular operation; or I=Ibased on the determination that the shared spectrum channel access is not enabled.
