SIGNAL TRANSMISSION METHOD AND RELATED DEVICE THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18157215 titled 'SIGNAL TRANSMISSION METHOD AND RELATED DEVICE THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method and device for signal transmission in a cellular network. The method involves obtaining real-time status parameters of a target cell and shutting down certain symbols in a subframe of the cell under specific conditions.

  • The method involves obtaining N parameters that indicate the real-time status of a target cell.
  • The method shuts down at least one first orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol in a subframe of the target cell.
  • The shutdown is triggered when at least one of the N parameters is below a certain threshold.
  • The shutdown is also triggered when all terminal devices in connected mode are in a discontinuous reception (DRX) sleep period or when no terminal in connected mode exists in the target cell.
  • The first OFDM symbol carries a cell specific reference signal (CRS) corresponding to a first or second port.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Improved efficiency in cellular networks by shutting down unnecessary symbols in a subframe.
  • Enhanced power management by utilizing the DRX sleep period of terminal devices.
  • Optimization of network resources by considering the real-time status of a target cell.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Reduces unnecessary signal transmission in a target cell, leading to improved network efficiency.
  • Minimizes power consumption by utilizing the DRX sleep period of terminal devices.
  • Allows for better allocation of network resources based on the real-time status of a cell.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Increased network efficiency and capacity.
  • Reduced power consumption and improved battery life for terminal devices.
  • Enhanced resource allocation and optimization in cellular networks.

Original Abstract Submitted

Embodiments of this application disclose a signal transmission method and a related device thereof. The method in this application includes: obtaining N parameters of a target cell, where the parameters indicate a real-time status of the target cell, and N is an integer greater than or equal to 1; and shutting down at least one first orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol in a first subframe of the target cell after determining that at least one of the N parameters is less than or equal to a corresponding threshold and determining that each terminal device in connected mode in the target cell is in a discontinuous reception (DRX) sleep period or that no terminal in connected mode exists in the target cell, where the first OFDM symbol carries a cell specific reference signal CRS corresponding to a first port and/or a second port.
