METHOD AND DEVICE FOR TRANSMITTING OFDM SIGNAL, AND METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RECEIVING OFDM SIGNAL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18156801 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR TRANSMITTING OFDM SIGNAL, AND METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RECEIVING OFDM SIGNAL

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for transmitting an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal in a wireless communication system. The method involves generating a frequency-shifted OFDM baseband signal by shifting the frequency of a first signal by a specific difference. This difference is calculated as the carrier frequency minus a specific frequency, which is chosen from a set of frequencies closest to the carrier frequency and corresponding to integer multiples of a specific subcarrier spacing. The frequency-shifted OFDM baseband signal is then up-converted to the carrier frequency using an analog oscillator to generate an OFDM symbol signal, which is then transmitted at the carrier frequency.

  • The method involves generating a frequency-shifted OFDM baseband signal.
  • The frequency shift is calculated based on the carrier frequency and a specific frequency chosen from a set of frequencies closest to the carrier frequency.
  • The specific frequency is selected from frequencies corresponding to integer multiples of a specific subcarrier spacing.
  • The frequency-shifted OFDM baseband signal is up-converted to the carrier frequency using an analog oscillator.
  • The up-converted signal is transmitted at the carrier frequency.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method of transmitting, by a transmitting device, an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal in a wireless communication system, the method including: generating, by a digital module of the transmitting device, a frequency-shifted OFDM baseband signal by performing frequency up-shift of a first signal by a difference between a carrier frequency fand a first frequency f, wherein the first frequency fis among frequencies corresponding to integer multiples of 128Δf closest to the carrier frequency f, and wherein Δf is an OFDM subcarrier spacing; up-converting, by an analog oscillator of the transmitting device, the frequency-shifted OFDM baseband signal by the first frequency fto generate an OFDM symbol signal at the carrier frequency f; and transmitting the OFDM symbol signal at the carrier frequency f.
