According to some embodiments, a method in a network node for configuring monitoring occasions for use in a network node of a wireless communication network comprises determining a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) search space monitoring configuration for a wireless device. The PDCCII search space monitoring configuration comprises a monitoring periodicity and a number of blind decodes for each search space of a plurality of search spaces over a plurality of slots. The method further comprises sending the monitoring configuration to the wireless device. A method in a wireless device comprises receiving the monitoring configuration and monitoring each search space according to the monitoring configuration.
