COMMUNICATION METHOD AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18152985 titled 'COMMUNICATION METHOD AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a communication method and apparatus for handling handover of a terminal device from one access network device to another. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:
- The first access network device identifies that a terminal device is in the process of being handed over to a second access network device.
- The first access network device sends information to release a tunnel that is used to transmit data of a multicast service between the first access network device and a core network device.
Potential Applications:
- This technology can be applied in various communication networks, such as cellular networks, Wi-Fi networks, or any other network where handover of terminal devices is required.
- It can be used in scenarios where multicast services are provided, such as video streaming, IPTV, or group communication applications.
Problems Solved:
- Handover of terminal devices between access network devices can cause interruptions or loss of data transmission.
- Releasing the tunnel used for multicast service transmission during handover can help ensure seamless handover and uninterrupted data delivery.
Benefits:
- Improved user experience by minimizing interruptions during handover of terminal devices.
- Efficient utilization of network resources by releasing unnecessary tunnels.
- Simplified management of multicast services during handover processes.
Original Abstract Submitted
A communication method and apparatus. A first access network device determines that a first terminal device is a last terminal device that receives data of a first multicast service via the first access network device in response to the first terminal device being in a handover preparation phase in which the first terminal device is handed over from the first access network device to a second access network device. The first access network device sends first information that is used to release a first tunnel. The first tunnel is used to transmit the data of the first multicast service between the first access network device and a core network device.
