APPARATUS AND METHOD OF SYSTEM INFORMATION TRANSMISSION AND RECEPTION ON A CARRIER SUPPORTING MULTIPLE BANDWIDTH PARTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18150490 titled 'APPARATUS AND METHOD OF SYSTEM INFORMATION TRANSMISSION AND RECEPTION ON A CARRIER SUPPORTING MULTIPLE BANDWIDTH PARTS

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure describes a communication method and system that combines 5G technology with Internet of Things (IoT) technology to support higher data rates and enable intelligent services in various domains such as smart home, smart city, and healthcare.

  • The method involves transmitting system information by a base station in a wireless communication system.
  • The base station identifies whether a user equipment (UE) has an active downlink (DL) bandwidth part (BWP) configured with a common search space.
  • If the active DL BWP of the UE is not configured with the common search space, the base station transmits updated system information to the UE using dedicated signaling.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Smart home: The technology can enable seamless connectivity and communication between various smart devices in a home, allowing for automated control and monitoring.
  • Smart city: It can facilitate efficient communication between different components of a smart city infrastructure, enabling services such as smart transportation, energy management, and waste management.
  • Healthcare: The technology can support remote patient monitoring, telemedicine, and other healthcare applications that require high data rates and reliable communication.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Higher data rates: The technology addresses the need for faster and more efficient communication to support the increasing demand for data-intensive applications.
  • Integration of 5G and IoT: It provides a method for combining the capabilities of 5G technology with IoT technology, allowing for seamless integration and interoperability between different devices and systems.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved efficiency: The technology enables more efficient communication by identifying and transmitting updated system information only when necessary, reducing unnecessary signaling overhead.
  • Enhanced connectivity: It allows for seamless connectivity between different devices and systems, enabling the development of intelligent services and applications.
  • Scalability: The technology can support a large number of connected devices and accommodate future growth in IoT deployments.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. The method for transmitting system information by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising identifying whether an active downlink (DL) bandwidth part (BWP) of a user equipment (UE) is configured with common search space, and transmitting, to the UE, an updated system information in a dedicated signaling when the active DL BWP of the UE is not configured with the common search space
