ELECTRONIC APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18149465 titled 'ELECTRONIC APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic apparatus that includes a display panel, a capacitive sensor, an acceleration sensor, and a processor. The apparatus is capable of identifying the orientation of the device, detecting touch positions on the display panel, and performing operations based on the identified touch positions.

  • The electronic apparatus includes a display panel, capacitive sensor, acceleration sensor, and processor.
  • The acceleration sensor provides data to identify the orientation of the device.
  • The capacitive sensor provides data to identify touch positions on the display panel.
  • The processor analyzes the data from both sensors to determine the touch positions and orientation information.
  • The processor identifies the touch position that is relatively upper side based on the orientation and coordinate information.
  • The processor performs an operation corresponding to the identified touch position.

Potential Applications

  • Mobile devices: This technology can be applied to smartphones and tablets, allowing for improved touch interaction and gesture recognition.
  • Gaming consoles: The apparatus can enhance gaming experiences by accurately detecting touch positions and orientation information.
  • Automotive displays: The technology can be used in car infotainment systems to provide intuitive touch controls and adapt to different orientations.

Problems Solved

  • Accurate touch detection: The capacitive sensor and processor combination allows for precise identification of touch positions on the display panel.
  • Orientation recognition: The acceleration sensor and processor enable the device to determine its orientation, enhancing user experience and enabling context-aware operations.

Benefits

  • Improved user experience: The apparatus provides accurate touch detection and orientation recognition, leading to smoother and more intuitive interactions.
  • Versatile functionality: The technology can be applied to various electronic devices, enhancing their capabilities and usability.
  • Enhanced gaming and multimedia experiences: The accurate touch detection and orientation recognition enable more immersive gaming and multimedia applications.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic apparatus is provided. The electronic apparatus includes a display panel, a capacitive sensor disposed at a lower part of the display panel, an acceleration sensor, and a processor configured to identify orientation information of the electronic apparatus based on first sensing data obtained by the acceleration sensor, identify a plurality of touch positions corresponding to touch data of greater than or equal to a threshold value in the display panel based on second sensing data obtained by the capacitive sensor, identify a relatively upper side touch position from among the plurality of touch positions based on coordinate information corresponding to the orientation information and the respective touch positions, and perform an operation corresponding to the identified touch position.
