QOS Flow Control Method and Apparatus - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18147373 titled 'QOS Flow Control Method and Apparatus

Simplified Explanation

The application describes a method and apparatus for controlling Quality of Service (QoS) flows in a network. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • The SMF network element receives indication information from an access network apparatus.
  • The first indication information indicates that a QoS flow cannot meet its target.
  • If the SMF network element receives second indication information within a preset time, it does not process the QoS flow.
  • If the SMF network element does not receive second indication information within a preset time, it deletes or modifies the QoS flow.
  • The second indication information indicates that the QoS flow can meet its target.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Telecommunication networks
  • Internet service providers
  • Cloud computing providers

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Ensures that QoS flows that cannot meet their targets are not processed, preventing potential performance issues.
  • Allows for the deletion or modification of QoS flows that consistently fail to meet their targets, improving overall network efficiency.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved QoS management in networks, leading to better performance and user experience.
  • Efficient allocation of network resources by identifying and addressing QoS flows that cannot meet their targets.
  • Simplified flow control process for managing QoS flows in a network.

Original Abstract Submitted

This application provides a QoS flow control method and an apparatus. An SMF network element receives first indication information sent by an access network apparatus, where the first indication information is used to indicate that a first QoS target of a QoS flow cannot be met; and the SMF network element does not process the QoS flow if the SMF network element receives second indication information in a first preset time; or the SMF network element deletes or modifies the QoS flow if the SMF network element does not receive second indication information in a first preset time, where the second indication information is used to indicate that the first QoS target can be met.
